Tryout FAQ's
How many teams are at each age level?
We expect to have 1-2 teams per age group at the youth level (9u-14u). At the high school level, we typically carry 2 teams at 15u, 2 teams at 16u, 2 teams at 17u, and 1 team at 18u.
Who coaches the teams?
While our staff changes every year, our teams are led by paid coaches. Very few of our teams are coached by parents. Almost all of our coaching staff are former college baseball players or high school coaches while some of our coaches have professional playing experience.
How many players are on each team?
While the number of players on each team varies, the average size of our youth teams in 2026 was 12 players, the average size of our high school teams was 14 players.
How many games do teams play? Do they travel?
Our youth teams play 30-40 games per year. We place a large emphasis on keeping our players arms and bodies healthy, so we keep our games played to a healthy and managable level for a 9-14 year old. Youth teams typically do not travel out of town, but play in leagues/tournaments in the greater Akron and Cleveland area.
Our high school teams play 30-40 games per year. This typically includes one out of town tournament in Ohio, as well as tournaments and league play in the greater Akron and Cleveland area. Our high school teams follow MLB pitch smart guidelines to keep arms healthy. We never overuse pitchers for the sake of winning.
What is the offseason/practice schedule?Practicing is a huge part of our development plan. All of our teams practice at least once per week in the offseason at our facility located in Stow, OH. Most of our teams practice twice per week in season in the summer. We pride ourselves on providing a structured off-season practice plan which
helps our players grow. Practices are also held outside at local HS fields during the season.
